Nikolai leaned back in his chair, studying the large man who stood at the large window of the office they were both in. The man's eyes were turned downward, focused on a folder in his hands and the words on the papers held within. Nikolai's resume. While Kol himself was confident that everything on there was sufficient to get him hired to this security firm, he wasn't sure what to make of this interview. He'd been around enough supernatural beings to know that Edward was one, he just didn't know what. At any rate, Kol was over the influence of them. After the Cult of Cat and his vampire neighbor who stole his dog, he was ready to just go into the private sector and get on with his life.

Edward shut the folder and walked over to the desk, setting it down. "Well, Mr. Kassle, your credentials are great. In fact, you're right what Mr. Raines is looking for in terms of building his new ideal team. There's just one issue."

Kol arched his eyebrow, focusing his grey-blue eyes on Edward. "What's that?"

Edward sat on the edge of the desk, the walnut creaking slightly under his weight. Was he made of marble? "How do I put this?" he said, searching for the words. "In our line of work, you will cross paths with a lot of extraordinary things. I get the sense you've had about enough of the extraordinary, which contributed to your early departure from a rather well-paid position with SWAT. I mean, correct me if I'm wrong, of course."

Nikolai sat forward in his chair, putting his elbows on his knees and clasping his hands together. "Alright man, I'm gonna level with you, because it seems like we both know what's up here. I am very happily human, and I intend to stay that way. I worked a very intense job with a group of guys who were great, but a little too into the whole 'king of the jungle' shit, alright? Respectfully, I don't know what you are, and if it's all the same, I'd like to keep it that way. Raines' name got tossed my way by a buddy, Shaunessy Miller, who said he's done some work for him in the past and had recently come back on full time."

When Edward smiled, he held up his hand. "I know, I know, Shaunie's not 'normal', but he's also not trying to turn half of the city into one of his packmates either, alright?"

Edward nodded, things becoming a lot more clear. Although, it was troublesome to think that there was a lion shifter who might be implied to be attempting to turn people. He'd have to ask more about that at a later date. "Well, that clears a lot up. And for the record, Mr. Kassle, you being human here is not seen as a negative. Honestly, your accolades from your military career and up until recently have kept you on par with supernatural creatures. Leon would probably fire me if I didn't offer you a position here."

Nikolai stood up. "Well, that would be great. And honestly, look - I really don't have a problem with the other folks. I just - look, I had a really close call, and that was enough." He shuddered when he thought about the fight with Wes. "So if you guys are happy to have just an ordinary human, I'm happy to be here." He shook Edward's hand firmly.

"It's understandable. Nobody here is going to try to convert you, I promise," Edward assured him. "Welcome to Garden Security, Mr. Kassle."
