Night's Omen

 It didn't take but a few minutes for Noelani and Murphy to arrive at Onyx courtesy of Irene. They were aware Gunnar was already there in the infirmary mending wounded hunters, but for the time being they had their own business to tend to. The duo may have looked normal enough, but they commanded both respect and attention, whether they were aware of it or not. As it was, they were walking - not running - towards the main area at a rapid pace. Neither of them had seen Dev yet, so Murphy had taken the liberty of grabbing someone and asking them. In the meantime, Noelani was on the phone -

"Dash? Jesus, what took you so long to call me back?" she snapped.

Dashiell made an irritated noise. "The reception is shit up here. You know that." In Hawaii, her ex-husband was just cleaning up the kitchen while Kaia was already in bed, no doubt playing on her PSP. "Is there a reason you've been calling since four in the morning?" he asked, his voice switching to concern. "Do I need to go get Kaia?"

Lani looked up at Murph, who'd finally found Dev. She waved them away for a moment as she turned, walking towards the windows and to the opposite side of the room. "Yes. Get her up, get packed. I want the two of you on the first flight off of that island. Do you still have contacts that are active around the globe? Contacts that I don't know about?"

Dash stood over the sink, nearly forgetting to turn off the water. He realized that it was full, and spun the faucet closed before leaving to go look in on Kaia. She had fallen asleep with her light on, and he leaned against the hall outside of her room, talking softly. "Of course I do. Why?" he asked, his voice unwavering despite the ice running through his veins.

"Midnight's on the attack. I think Diamond is okay, but as far as the rest of the guilds go... they really brought the fire. It's just a precaution. I want you to take her, and I don't want you to tell me where. The two of you need to be gone in eight hours or less."

Her ex-husband, who had garnered the nickname The Magician, had no issues disappearing. It also so happened that he was a rather talented sorcerer. He had been in Diamond when Noelani was selected, but after she became pregnant he made the choice to leave. Despite the divorce, Dash and Lani still had a very strong connection, and when it came to Kaia, it was a bond no blade nor spell could break.

"They'd be stupid to try," he said, a tone in his voice she hadn't heard in a while. Still, he roused Kaia, who was gruff until she realized what he was telling her. Kaia may have been a teenager, but she was the daughter of two incredibly powerful hunters, and she had inherited some mystic talents of her own. "Okay, she's up. Do you want to talk to her?" he asked. He could hear the background of where Lani was, and he assumed she was calling him in between ten other things she needed to do.

"Yes, please," she said, glancing up again. Murphy was holding his hands up in a questioning fashion to her, but she watched as Dev put a hand on his shoulder and nodded to Lucien's office. It seemed the hunter could tell by her body language that she was on an important phone call. When she heard her daughter's soft voice on the phone, her mouth broke into a smile that she hid by turning to face the wall.

"Hey, honey," she greeted softly. "Your father is going to help you get packed and you guys are going to go on an impromptu vacation. He'll tell you what sort of clothing to bring, so don't worry - it won't be like last time." They'd ended up in Germany instead of New Zealand on a last minute change of plans, and Kaia had to buy new winter clothing. She was thrilled. "Anyways, I've got to get back to it. Tell you father I love him. I love you. Watch his back," she warned. Dash had a habit of believing himself to be immortal, and despite knowing he would never take an unnecessary risk with Kaia around, telling her daughter to be on point wouldn't hurt.

She hung up the phone and went to the office, opening the door and closing it softly behind her. "Devraj. Sorry for the delay. Had some business to attend to." She rose her eyebrows at Murphy a little, who seemed to understand, and spun back around in his chair to look at the large Indian man.

"I suppose you can guess why we're here," she said, taking a seat next to Murph.
