Died on an impulse over you
Caught like a corpse crawling round a dream
And loving you
And she hangs on youth
Crushing any feet to fit the shoes
Stepping it out with a size 12 mouth
And cursing you
Small town witch come to mess me up
Small town witch come to mess me up
Small town witch come to mess me up again

Mischief

This thread takes place in the present.

"So, you said a surprise. Does this surprise involve jewelry? Or bath salts? Or, ooh, Prada?" Hailee asked, nearly bouncing around in her seat. Angela was good at gift-buying, and when she said 'surprise', she usually had something material for Hailee to scent-mark and hoarde, and then later show off and allow others to fawn on. She was the best sort of cousin someone could ask for - a fashion-conscious one.

"No," Angela replied, lips quivering as she resisted the urge to laugh. The dynamic duo rolled smoothly down the dusky highway that lead to the outskirts of Ramsa. Her aim was the park; where she'd first encountered the "surprise" that she was about to give to Hailee. Well, not give so much as share with. The girls were capable hunters as well as Witches, but the thing she'd discovered would give them an extra edge when they needed another pair of hands (or knives).

As she pulled up along the curb of the park and got out, Hailee stared at her warily. "Listen, all that's here are some broken swings and ducks, and I don't like ducks, or have you forgotten?" she threatened, slowly pulling herself out of the seat and shutting the door. She was already peering around in the low light, trying to find the evil undomesticated and filthy animals - of all the things in the avian world to bite. She'd never forgive Angela for that prank.

"No, no ducks," she said cheerfully, laughter edging into her voice. She tossed her own brown hair aside and started up the grassy knoll, enjoying the woodsy sort of smell that came with the park. "It's just up ahead," she said. She changed the subject to something more amicable - their ongoing "bodycount war". So far Hailee had surpassed her by nearly twelve, but that was because Angela had been held up by that stupid ex of hers. If he interfered one more time, she would kill him - she really would.

As they neared a series of picnic tables and benches, a dark figure seated atop on of them leaned forward a little. "Angela?" it called out, voice hesitant. At the confirmation, the figure leaped down and strode towards them, walk casual and comfortable. He stepped into the light from one of the posted floodlights in the area, and gave a sort of half-smile to her. "And you must be Hailee," he said. He didn't hold out his hand - these people didn't do introductions like that, did they?

"Angela. You got me a boy of my very own?" she asked, blue eyes large and expression quite shocked. She was resisting the urge to laugh, because she knew there was a lot more going on than what it initially looked like, but still - it looked like Angela had bought her a real, live boy! Pinocchio danced in her head, and she laughed aloud.

"Ha! No, but actually, you remember how we were talking the other day about wishing we had someone we could use who the vampires we tracked routinely didn't recognize? Chris here hates them as much as we do - maybe even more," she said glibly. She had a dangerous sort of smile on her face, and she turned fully to Chris as she spoke. "Hailee is like I am - I told you that she hates them, but I think you and she will find you have something... more in common."

Chris raised his brows a little, and then shrugged. "So what, are we some sort of team now?" he asked. "It isn't that I don't mind having backup, but let's be honest here, I work best alone," he began.

Angela cut him off. "No, I'm not looking to become some sort of Scooby Squad or anything. What I had in mind was that the three of us could go out together and do some damage. Not all the time, but, you know, gotta make mischief in the vampire world sometimes, and I'd say we'd pack a pretty good punch. They expect us individually, but together?"

"Wait, so this is the guy you were telling me about? The one that you paired up with a few times when you had a handful?" Hailee asked. She was quick to put the pieces together, and held out her hand, a bright smile on her face. "Hailee," she said. "And for reference, I also work well alone, but I'm always up for making trouble for the leeches," she offered.

"Yeah, nice to meet you," Chris said. He shook her hand, and was surprised that her grip was firm. Like Angela's, actually. "One of these days, you two are going to have to tell me your secret. Normal girls don't like to hunt vampires. They like to do their hair and shop," he said.

"Oh, no," Angela laughed. "We still do that. You should see her closet!"

67%

This thread takes place in the past.

DAMN. How did I manage to do this again? Angela thought to herself as the sheet of paper floated down onto the top of her desk. She swallowed and looked over it, the pen and paper combination of her Lit test marred with her teacher's red pen. It looked like a train wreck, actually. Words all over, ink everywhere. All she needed was to light the bitch on fire, and she'd have the full effect. She glared at the bottom of the page, where next to the giant 67%, the note read:

  See me after class, please.

Of course. It would have to happen that way. She was incredibly tired from being out the night before - every night that week, actually, and the week before. Hunting. She was so tired of hunting! Why couldn't she just be normal, like everyone else? She put her head down on her desk with a groan, and held the completed worksheet on her desk up as a student came by to collect them. She so didn't want to have to stay after class. She was supposed to meet Jared again, and then she had to go home. God, her mom was going to chew her ass off for this. She was supposed to be able to handle the workload of school and Witch-dom.

As the bell rang, she took her sweet time gathering her things, and then literally trudged up to the teacher's desk when the last of the students had filed out of the room. "Yo, you wanted to see me?" she asked, tossing her brown hair out of her face. She looked casual and calm - Angela had been working very hard on making it seem like nothing bothered her, and so far it was working. The problem was that with her teacher, she came off as cold and inattentive, a problem which could have been rectified if she'd passed her test, but at this point, there was no hope of catching up with her grade.

"Ah, Miss Aaron, how good of you to oblige my request," he said, spinning around in his chair to face her. She wanted to jam her pencil in his eye, but she just managed a wry smile as he continued with his little speech. "I've noticed your grade taking a steady decline over the last few weeks. You're more than capable, I can see it from your past grades. Is there something happening that's preventing you from studying? Work? Home? Boyfriend? You have real potential, if only you'd dump the unnecessary weight from off of your shoulders and focus, Miss Aaron. I say this as a concerned teacher, not as a buttinsky," he said, holding his hands up.

Angela was raging. Did he just... "Did you just call my boyfriend 'unnecessary weight'?" she asked, jaw slacked. She stood there for a second, before she opened her mouth and said, "I think I'll be going now," through clenched teeth. He opened his mouth to speak, but she put her hand up abruptly, veins in her wrists inflamed. "Don't. Trust me. You don't want to spark that fire, buddy. I'll kick your ass all over this classroom," she snarled. She snatched her test from off his desk, and crumbled it with her free hand, then threw it into the trash can. "And here's what I think of your dumbass test. Oh, by the way? My answer to number forty-seven was right. You're just too stupid to understand the comparison between the effects of the Soma drug in Brave New World to the pop culture obsession of today's media. Maybe you should check around before you grade tests based on comprehension and opinion," she snapped.

She spun on her heel and stormed out of the room, nearly taking Jared out as she blasted down the hall. As always, he was surprised when she nearly ran right over him, but it didn't seem to deter him any. "Hey babe. Was just coming to see what the hell was taking you so long." He paused. She had an expression on her face he'd never seen before. "...you okay? He knew it was the type of Pandora's Box question he didn't really delve into, but fuck it, for Angela, just this once.

She stared at him for a long minute, and then kissed him on the cheek. The angry expression was gone from her eyes, and her face twisted into the mask of a happy, cheerful teenager. "Nope," she said. "Just failed my test. It's cool, though. Mom is going to rip me a new one, but oh well. Them's the breaks," she said. She slipped her hand through his. "C'mon, let's go find Ryan. I'm dying to know how his date with Camille went," she said.
