So I totally made THREE fucking pumpkin rolls tonight, and they ALL split.  It really pisses me off.  Even better was that one was PERFECT until I set it down, then it settled and the sides split a little.  So close.

Dimitri Brevic

Whats a pumpkin roll? Is that like a barrel roll?

Eden Cobriana

Google it, it's tasty and very un-like a barrel roll.

Eden Cobriana

Okay, seriously?  All the prompt threads are breaking my brain, you jerks.  It's too many, and they flood my 'recent posts' page.  So much for cheating.  Back to IF methods of finding new topics for meeeee.

Oh, and this is awesome.  Really.

Danielle Vida

I don't really know what else you just said, but that bra is win.

Father Dantes

Thats not win at all, that would be massively infuriating...kinda like the way I currently feel about the front closure kind...

I'm going over Falcon stuff so I can accurately re-write Theia's history (with family) and do her prompts without looking like a retard, but I can't find answers to some of these questions.

Choirs: HOW MANY, WHAT KIND? What precisely do they DO? I get the dancing and such, but I'm not seeing any sort of purpose besides having a really cool title (it is pretty cool). I'm SCOURING the boards right now.

Explain how a Falcon gets lost in the Ecl; can it happen once or do they go in and not come back?

I'm seeing some topics about the Mercy - that they could be in Cjarsa's or Araceli's. If Cjarsa is the Empress, how could Araceli have her own Mercy? Or was it because she was royalty? Did Syfka have her own Mercy?

I'll add more later.

So far I'm so educated in Pure Diamond from reading multiple threads that I feel I could write (another) book on them alone.

Soooo....

Choirs: I'm not entirely sure how many; what do you mean by what kind? As far as I know all choirs dance magic, are you asking something different? I seem to remember that there are at least 3 'upper' choirs, the Indigo Choir is the best of the best of the best.

The purpose of the choirs is to be a powerful magical force - what they dance for they tend to get, if there is a way to dance for it. Visions of the future and changes in the weather are a few examples that we get. ... does that sort of cover what you need?

As to the magic, ok, simple(ish) explanation goes like this:

Ecl is sort of the personification of nothingness, an anti-universe. Mehey is reality, all of it. Now, back when the serpiente and shm'ahnmik were back in the dasi, they worshiped a parthenon of gods but the main two were Ahnmik and Ahnamirak. Ahnmik was the god of silence, of death, of stillness, of cold, etc - his domain was Ecl. Ahnamirak was the goddess of movement, of fire, of change, of freedom, of passion - her domain was Mehey. Because of this, Serpiente get their magic (or would, if they had magic) from Mehey, shm'Ahnmik get their magic from Ecl. They literally dip into Ecl whenever they want to use their magic, and unless they're good at what they do they get lost in the essence of all nothingness. Falcons tend to fear Ecl, because she (Ecl is given a female personification) tries to grab them when they come to her for magic, and because of that she slowly wears away their perceptions of physical reality - the more they use the power of Ecl, the less the power of Mehey can touch them, I suppose. (She only won't touch those who are already hers, but that opens a whole new can of worms so let's just avoid it. None of your characters fit into that category anyway, trust me.)

ANYWAY. All of this was to say that no; a falcon could not get lost in Ecl and then come back. Hai is the only one I know of that managed to come back, and the only reason she managed to was that Nicias, who called her back, was double-bound to her. He was royal blooded, which she had sworn to, and she was half Cobriana, who he had sworn to. And even after she came back she had to fight to keep herself from slipping back into Ecl, and she didn't really want to.

It is nothingness, which rubs off on you as well. You might be able to escape if you really tried, but you don't really try because once you're trapped you don't care anymore. Falling into Ecl is basically death, but your body lives on.

Other Characters Here

Yes, that clears up the Choir part - for what they do. I was hoping for a list of what there were, but I never saw it when I was hunting around on Ahar's site. The most I could find is Silver and Indigo, but she DID say there were other colours, I just can't find them.  >:(

That sums up the Ecl pretty well, too. It's like heroin. Addicts want to kick it, but really, it's just too good to leave.

I'll definitely be updating this with more questions as they come off. How about the Mercy stuff? Any ideas?

What about the Mercy? I mean, what do you want to know?

The Mercy are the elite guards/torturers for the royals. They go in pairs - the Empress has her Mercy, the Heir has her Mercy; I'm not sure about the rest of the royals.

Basically, because falcons aren't very prolific when they're bad instead of execution (because if they did that too much they'd kill themselves off in short order) they're shown the Empress's mercy, as the saying goes, and most are INSTANTLY reformed citizens.

What is a Quemak?
What happens if parents are not the same Falcon breed?

Cassidy Clark

Quemak is a half breed. They're very rare, usually die young, and usually take a bunch of people with them. They're also forbidden, basically social outcasts, and are forbidden to wear their wings out as the rest of the falcons do.

If both parents aren't the same kind of falcon you also get a half breed.

Normally the way it would go would be Gyrfalcon>Peregrine>Aplomado>Merlin, but falcon magic messes up everything. The child of a Gyrfalcon and a Merlin would be half Gyrfalcon, half Merlin.

And because of that, Quemak.

And a ke'jaes is just a Falcon who never reached their magic? And they're sent to live on the third island where they usually have shorter lifespans, right? Or is that ka'jaes?

We need to add all this to the FAQ when I'm done crying for info.
