Starving Artist

Fairfax was starting to make Darren think that his intelligence wasn't as high as was originally believed.  That, or he was horribly naive.  Either way, it wouldn't be good for him.  He needed to go upstairs to Ash, not play with Persephone.  Actually, Ash needed to come DOWNSTAIRS and put an end to all of this, so that Darren didn't make a fool out of himself.  The instant she had taken that ball out, his attention span had slipped, but he was trying to hang in there so that he could get Fairfax out of the situation.

Nevermind!

That ball shot past him, just out of his reach, and he was after it like a bullet.  He hadn't shifted, which was in his favor (Persephone really didn't need to go back to Jeshickah and tell her that she'd found a black leopard.  Being uncommon wasn't a good thing in that case), but he'd definitely pounced the thing like he was.  Fairfax was on his own for now.  He'd tried to tell him.

Persephone was too busy at the moment nuzzling into Fairfax, who smelled new and warm, and different than Darren. She had no idea Darren was a leopard, no more than Fairfax being a cougar, although Darren did know she was a jaguar simply because he'd seen her in her natural form before. That was when his bitchish girlfriend had made him turn her away. Persephone had never before seen a male be controlled quite so much by his mate, and had later told Jeshickah all this with an irritated sort of deflation. She didn't like playtime cut short by jealous females.

She pulled away from Fairfax as she saw Darren creeping closer to the ball. When Darren sprang, Persephone leaped into the air, aiming for his back. She was aiming, really, for the ball, but Darren couldn't help his fat getting in the way of that.

"MINE!" she yelled.
