Most car thieves wouldn't be found in a hospital parking lot in a black hoodie, the hood pulled up to hide their face while they looked for a good car to swipe, but Jared wasn't like most people.  Even thieves tend to have a set of morals and a code of conduct, but Jared's included swiping the fancy cars from hospitals.  The way he saw it, it wasn't just the sick that parked in the lot, so he could pick out a car that belonged to someone with some cash.  Not to mention, hospital employees had a parking tag in their front window, so it was pretty obvious.  Once he singled one out, he stepped up to it like he belonged there, and got to work.

It took him less than a minute to pop the lock.

He probably could have done it faster if he'd had to, but one wrong move would have tripped the alarm, and he wasn't playing that game.  This had worked just fine, anyway, and he pulled the door open to hop into the car.  Easy as pie.

Lucius Oulette

Another long night, but at least she managed to get off early for once, and she was really grateful for it. Seemed tonight the local gangs had decided to have a little shoot out and she was pulled from her usual post upstairs, where all the dying or dead were, to help out downstairs with the strange under-staffing. The atmosphere of the ER was something she liked to avoid; it caused her stress and as she left that tension and urgency hadn?t left her body.

And by the looks of what was happening to her car, it wasn?t about to leave any time in the immediate future.

?Hey!? she screamed, striding over to her car hastily.

What the hell was this little punk thinking?! Lucius dropped the paperwork she had been carrying off by the rear tires and tried to slide her way in between him and her car. The nerve!

?Just what the hell do you think you?re doing??

Jared Bastian

Wow.  This lady had balls, or something.  It wasn't often that a woman would rush at him like that in this kind of a situation, but she had to be acting without thinking.  She was little, so he could either move her, or give up the car.  Both were actually tempting, considering he wasn't sure he wanted to fight with her, and he was no killer.  He also didn't need to have her spouting out a description of him, since a struggle would more than likely involve her seeing his face.

Of course, he also didn't want to have to leave the lot and go off in search of another car.  That'd be annoying.

"I was...admiring your machine," he told her, trying to establish whether or not the thing was worth the trouble.  Of course she wouldn't buy the excuse, but he didn't care about that.  "She looks nice.  How does she run?"

Yeah, he had nerve.

Lucius Oulette

Ha, right! As if she?d fall for some dumb lie like that. Hell, the door was propped open, and she knew she had locked it and closed it, not to mention he looked the thieving type. Lucius looked him up and down; he may have looked threatening but she had a trick up her sleeve that he didn?t. She didn?t back down one bit.

?Admiring it, huh?? she questioned, forcing her petite frame into his face. ?With the door wide open? Though to maybe take a look under the hood while you were at it? Maybe steal something??

Crossing her arms she squinted at him long and hard, trying her best to look at least mildly threatening. Probably didn?t work on a kid like him but she made the attempt anyway. There was no way in hell she was going to let a smart ass kid like him over-power the likes of her.

However she moved back, leaning against the car. ?Thanks for the concern, but no thanks. Now if you don?t want a report on your hands, I suggest you leave.?

Jared Bastian

"It looks nice enough that I don't have to check under the hood.  I'll take what I need when I get where we're going.  So, thanks for the chat, but I should be on my way.  I have a lot to do still tonight," he told her, stepping deliberately into her personal space after she leaned back on the car.

"Think about it this way, if I popped the lock to admire the car, what do you think I'll do to you if I decide I want to admire you as well?" he asked, making the effort to sound threatening.  He didn't think the little girl was scary, but he also wasn't actually going to do anything like that to her.  He just wanted to scare her, perhaps have her go run for help.  By the time there was a report out, he'd have switched the plates and moved the car.

"Honestly?  I suggest you leave."

Lucius Oulette

Well, he certainly was bold, and she had to admit she did admire that. Still there was no way she was going to be intimidated by some kid; after fifty plus years of living she wasn?t too scared of anything, just annoyed. And she was definitely annoyed now.

She laughed, cold and hard at his bold statement. ?For one ?we? are not going anywhere, and, for two, you couldn?t ?pop me open? even if you tried.?

What did he think; that she was going to run off and get security? There was no chance in hell she was going to just leave her car there for him to take; she had enough sense to know that if she did, he?d be off with her car before she could sprit off to find them. Nope, she wasn?t going to leave, and made this known by standing up straight, hand on hips as if challenging him to get past her.

?I think you?d better leave, unless you like pain,? Lucius threatened trying her best not to just sock him right then.

Jared Bastian

Alright, so his code of conduct wasn't going to extend much further.  He wouldn't rape or kill her, but he was totally alright with injuring her this close to the hospital, or scaring the hell out of her with threats that he'd do something.  "Lady, you are small, have a big mouth, and happen to be in my way.  That 'we' didn't include you, and I think you'd be surprised with what I can 'pop open'," he snapped, whipping out his switchblade in the same instant.  He was quick with it, having had to use it before.

"You either get out of my way so I can take the car, or I'm gonna make you move," he told her, not at all taking her threat seriously.  Like she could hurt him.  He was almost half a foot taller than her, and she wasn't exactly built with too much muscle to her.  He wasn't going to have much of a problem with her if it came down to it.  "Now."

Lucius Oulette

Her first, very human instinct when it came to switchblades was to run away quickly. Then however the realization that she wasn?t human came crashing down on Lucius? head; he wasn?t going to do much with just a simple little blade. She gave it a few moments of silence till she busted out laughing, like it was the best joke she had heard in a long time.

Then she punched him in the stomach.

?I work in a hospital,? she callously said, ?I?m not some priss you can just push around.?

Truth was she had built up a fair amount of muscle mass since working at the hospital; strange though it was, considering vampires wouldn?t age and she hadn?t thought they could build muscle either. Apparently she had been wrong.

Jared Bastian

Personally, he'd have preferred she go along with her first instinct on this one, since she was young, and cute, and he didn't want to have to hurt her.  Having her laugh, then punch him in the stomach faster than he'd seen any guy manage, wasn't what he'd had in mind.

"I don't give a fuck where you work.  I just want the damn car!" he snapped, pissed off now that she'd caused him pain.  He had to decide if he wanted to take off or fight for the car just out of principle at this point.  He wanted the car more than before just because she was causing him so much trouble, but it was tempting to just leave and find another elsewhere.

"Damn, you hit like a fucking dude," he complained, recovering himself and making a note to watch out for that fact the next time she moved.
