Tarja: The First Sword Mage

While Eilani and Nox possessed the powers of light and dark, they had not the ability to forge them into weaponry like the single daughter that their union produced. Tarja possessed an ability that would prove to be one of the most powerful things the Finnén line would see, though it would not re-emerge until much later during Ksenia's salvo to reclaim the pack. It was an ability that would lay dormant until it chose to awaken, and since it awakened near-immediately in Tarja, she was known as the first sword mage of the Finnén bloodline.

Tarja was frail despite being wolf, and she took after Eilani in feature and voice in such a way that Nox dared not to let her out of his sight until he could contain her no longer. She was extremely powerful, exhibiting early on traits that Nox knew could spell disaster if she was not properly trained. He had not anticipated how she could concentrate her power through whatever weapon she wielded, and at her first chance as a teenager she traveled to the nearest smithy with all of the money she could find/con/beg, requesting that he forge her a sword nearly her own size. It was referred to as a bastard sword, he had told her, and Tarja, being a willful sort of youth, liked the sound of it very much.

She took it back home and began to focus her magic into every swing. Eilani was not so impressed with the idea of her precious alabaster child wielding a blade, but she said nothing on the matter aside from disapproving sighs. Nox trained with her from dawn until dusk until she could practically weave a literal lightening storm from her weapon. The air around her would crackle and spark, and upon solid strikes the sword would grow so hot that it could burn through flesh and wood alike.

Tarja trained further with her sword, later retiring the bastard in for two lighter swords that she could wield with both hands. She infused dance into her technique, giving her footwork something that enemies she encountered did not expect: grace. Despite already having the natural fluidity of motion that a shapeshifter had, Tarja took it one step closer to disaster by mixing intricate steps of customary dances, things that could represent life, death, and everything in between. It was here that perhaps the magics split again, for Tarja was the only member of the family for many years who could wield both in a duality and not suffer injury for it.

Tarja became so skilled in her ability that she earned a certain notoriety in the region, and she brought the attention of other clans onto the Finnén gypsies. It was at the first Gathering where she met many of the pack alphas, for most of the gypsies had turned wolf at some point or another, and there where she met her mate, a man named Acheron Fenrisulfr. This, of course, was long, long before the Fenrisulfr Curse, and Tarja went on to have two sons and a daughter.

It was much later that Tarja was called to arms when several of the Finnén members had been attacked by vampires on a journey through a wintry mountain pass. Tarja and two other wolves were dispatched to handle the problem, and Tarja fell when a vampire who had been disguising himself as only a wolf caused an avalanche, killing her and the rest of the wolves she'd gone to collect. Only one of her team escaped, but he could not give a description of the vampire that had attacked them.

As a blade dancer and magic user, she earned a spot in the history that Therrayans and gypsy clans alike can find: Tarja was the first to set the bar for the capabilities of the rest of the Finnén clan, and on her death, it marked a dark future for what was held in store for the rest of the pack.
