Poor little Caleb

Hello all. I just wanted to introduce Caleb Wells to you.

He is 21, a Walmart stockboy in Ramsa, very shy and a little neurotic. Oh, and last week a girl picked him up...then bit him. He managed to fight her off but now he's all riled up. She must have been crazy, or a...a...a vampire or something! He doesn't know. But he's determined to find out what the heck happened to him.

A quest which...can very easily reveal the "supernatural" world to him. And who knows what could happen if that happened? Anything, I bet.

So...would anyone be interested in aiding Caleb in his quest?

I...wanna offer some stuff up, but I have plenty of potential ideas and don't know what direction you want to go in.

Like, do you want him to have friends that know all about the supernatural stuff and just haven't told him?  Cause I have Jason, who's 22 and a computer programmer/hacker who also happens to be a hyena shifter.  I have Fin, a crow that's only a year younger than Caleb.  This post has all my characters in it, what they are, and what they do.  You'd have to look closer at each profile for ages, though. 

If you're looking for something a little more like a violent intro, on the mild end I have Luke, who's basically a touch psychic and could totally tell Caleb that he needs to head for the hills because he has a vamp on his tail.  Slightly less friendly would be Taran, who is a perfectly reasonable person to run into in a dark alley doing something unpleasant or having something unpleasant done to him.  Uhh, otherwise, I have plenty of hunters with varying levels of patience and friendliness that could always step in at some point so that he can cling to their presence for answers.  I even have a high school teacher in Ramsa, a werewolf, that you could always try to plot around.

Any of this flying up your skirt the right way?

With Taran comes Tanith, Darren

I've got a plethora of people non-supernatural and otherwise, lemme see if I can find the age bracket...

There's Vanessa who actually works with Jason; she's a lion shifter. Aware of what she is, but fairly non-threatening. It's perfectly plausible that if he meets Jason he will meet Vanessa as well - which brings me to

Andrew. He's actually working under an alias, but he's from the lineage of Witches who basically smear vampires. He's currently trying to eliminate problems with another of Darren's characters, but if he doesn't work, he's got a sister, Laura, who's going to be created shortly (cries uncontrollably at her creation of characters)

Another conduit for Jason is Stella, who's also a hyena like Jason, and buzzes around him a decent amount of time. If he meets both Jason and Stella, no doubt he'll meet Skye, Nick, and Ebere eventually.

There's Tawny, my Burmese python shifter/stripper. She works at All Hallows, which Caleb is old enough to get into now. If he goes there, he'll run into Marius, Nikolas, Melisande, no doubt Drew, Joshua, Aimee... the list goes on.

An unfinished is Kenzie, the half-sister of Connor Batten, leader of the Crimson Guild. It's likely they could have gone to school together, perhaps even had a class or two. She's younger, but she's been in AP stuff plus college bullshit for a while now, and she's social.

Another hunter would be Angela, and that's another HS possibility. Angela was dating Jared, so if Caleb knew her, he'd know Jared (and would probably hate him), and through them he'd meet/know Ryan SHane and Camille Farrell (an NPC I'm... yeah, I hate my npcs, they neber stay N)

As far as vampires go, I've got

Posey another Ramsa student who's just sweet and adorable. She's young for a vampire, volunteers at Single Earth, likes baking, etc etc.. She's a "nice" vampire. Through her you'd probably also know Melanie, Brittany or Laurel, which brings me to

Cynthia, Brittany's friend and super-bitch vampire. She's young enough, but she's been around the block, and she's got that whole Basic Instinct thing going on. You probably wouldn't want to know her, but she's good for drama.

There's Griffon, who's pretty much Satan spawn. The only reason you'll know him is if he's going to kill you, he's tried to kill you, or you fall into the group of people that follow him around. He's confrontational, and for a vampire, it gets you sort of far with humans.

Monette and Seraphine are both likely candidates for the vampire who may have attacked him, if you want to go THAT route, although neither of them can really be physically fought off (even young vampires can bench press a freaking car). They're into themselves, though, and their survival, so if someone busted up their little party, I'm sure they'd have left with no qualms about sticking around to finish their snacks. Monette is... vain, self-centered and a little bit delusional as to her own grandeur; Seraphine is just plain crazy.

Most of these bios you can use as a BASE, but don't put tons of stock into any of them. They're all being re-written.

Hmm...possibilities! *rubs hands together*

Well, the "direction" I want to go in is basically--I want Caleb to discover the "other" world and eventually become, somehow, involved in it. Beyond that, I'm open to pretty much anything. Violence is ALWAYS fun. ALWAYS. But in Caleb's case...perhaps it would be better for him to recieve a gentler baptism.

I looked at the characters y'all suggested, and I'm thinking either Jason or Fin might be good guys for Caleb to hand with, since it is at least possible that he might've met them during his brief stint at college, or has at least seen them around town. Angela Arun and Luke, the psychic guy, are also interesting possibilities.

Shucks. I dunno. I guess it's a good thing Caleb works at Walmart--because who doesn't go to Walmart? He could probably meet all kinds of people there.

Maybe the best route for Caleb would be for him to return to the scene of the crime, probably in day time since a lot of his night hours are taken up at work (for now), and ask around? Or for him to bump into someone at work, someone he's met before who he could confide in.

Sigh. I have to make a decision, don't I?? The trouble with Caleb is that there are probably millions of different ways he could go. Let me think a little.

Just a fair warning, some of us will just tag you in a thread anyways. I do it all the time - I try to keep it in a situation a character might be in, though. Sometimes I just won't ask, but usually I'll flag someone on AIM and just tell them "so and so and so and so, y/n?"

Belinda is a safer bet - she's an emerald boa shapeshifter and a member of a band; if you want to have him drop by the Mojo Lounge and listen to some live music it would be easy to have them meet - and have her flirt, she flirts with basically everything that shows enough signs of life.

Like Angie said, if he has much to do with Stella he'll probably eventually wind up meeting Ebere, though she is enough of a mess right now that I would not suggest throwing him at her for a first meeting. To be honest I'm not sure if it will be possible. She's kind of hiding in a hole in the ground and is not going to come out for a while.

Emily is the resident homeless hawk; she got basically chased around for a few years by this vampire who drove her almost insane. She could be used if you want him to meet her.

For slightly more traumatic there's Faith - and, fair warning, Faith will probably come along with Jason. She's semi-stalking him at the moment. It could be interesting, however - Faith is wonderfully insane.

If he knows Angela he'll also likely know her cousin Hailee, who honestly he might meet anyway; she's also a witch, a vampire hunter, and she loathes vampires down to the center of her being.

Melanie is much like Posey, and actually if he knew Posey he'd probably know Melanie. She's my nice-girl vampire, the youngest of my vamps and one of the younger vampires on the board. She likes to hang out at SE Ramsa and be a good student, as she goes through high school for the 3rd or 4th or however many-th time.

If he ended up near All Hallows, he might also meet the as-yet-unfinished Mona; she's a vain little peahen shifter and a dancer there.

And... I think that's about all I have.

I have a hunter that is a really dorky, shy kinda dude that Caleb might jive with, my other ones are more hardcore into hunting. My vamps are well....not people you really want him to meet with the exception of Wihelm. If Caleb runs across Angie's character Aurora, chances are he will meet Wilhelm, or if does anything sketchy involving the Russian mob he might meet Dimitri...and if for any reason he decides to upset "God" he will get to meet Father Dantes lololololol. But just check the profile of this character for a list of all my peeps and scope them out, some are nicer than others by a long shot.

LOL! I hadn't even considered All Hallow's because of Eden. I don't know if Caleb's really the type he goes after (not enough cash, only human and therefore nothing exotic, not stunningly beautiful, yeeeeah), but I've been trying not to make a habit of throwing him at anything/one 'new'. 

Jason would be fine with me, though he does come with the connections everyone else has mentioned.  Fin has a little less going on by way of knowing people and plotting, but Jason's much more normal. I also have Rowen, who Caleb probably would have hated if he knew him in high school, and like Angie said about Angela, Jared probably would have shown up in there somewhere. Guaranteed, Caleb wouldn't have liked him.  He was, and still is, an asshole.  He's just a more miserable, vampiric asshole now.

Okay...when I have figured out what I want to do, should I talk to the people involved or just make a thread, write something, and tag someone? Or...what? Like I said in my intro post, I haven't done an RP like this in...seven years. Ish. So not only am I waffling in circles about what to do with my character, I'm pretty blank on the mechanics of the game as well.

And can I say I'm leaning towards Caleb-related violence after all?
