Skye shrugged her shoulders easily as they headed for their destination. "I'll tell you whatever you want to know, provided it's something I can answer," she said easily, still positively glowing. Really, it was sort of silly how much she visibly changed when her husband was in her direct line of sight. She twined her fingers with Nick's, swinging her hand lightly as she walked alongside him, tilting her head at Frank.

"What, precisely, do you want to know first?" she asked, voice expectant and warm. Skye's element was teaching, easily, and considering she was a mother-to-be, she figured she may as well become acquainted with explaining this supernatural sort of world. It might be easier on a full-grown man than on a small child, but then again, she'd been wrong before.

That was a good question, just what the hell did he want to know first? Probably the leech questions would be the best to get out of the way. Shifters, he kinda more or less understood the basics from spending time hunting with Skye. They could shift..some could go half way. They were faster, stronger, healed better yadda yadda. He hadn't really had to tangle with one yet, all his hunting encounters with them had been through a rifle scope so far, but maybe he could convince Nick to spar with him one day...just to know what to expect, and hell getting smacked around by a lion would probably get him ready for anything.

"Well, uhhh...the leeches..do they have any kind of like organization, or leadership or anything? I've heard rumors of some kinda like vampire fortress in the woods somewhere around here. How does all that work?"

Frank kinda liked the idea of some sort of structure to the enemy. If they had a leader, you could kill him and it made the rest of them easier to pick off. But somehow, he knew it wouldn't be that simple, none of this super natural shit was...

Nick LeCroix

Nick was all set to help Skye out with the explaining here, particularly where vampire and shifter capabilities were concerned.  He was a little bit better acquainted with the sorts of things that happened in a direct confrontation, and he preferred it that way.  Skye knowing what it's like to take a vampire or shifter head-on would make him very angry, since she was NOT big enough to be taking that sort of abuse.  He preferred her being behind that scope.  Between the two of them, he wasn't expecting the explanations to be too bad, in all honesty.  That meant he got to hold hands with Skye and mostly just relax and enjoy the walk.  Sometimes, it was the little things that were the most enjoyable.

Frank sure as hell knew how to hit the good stuff, though.

"That 'fortress in the woods' is called Midnight, and it's a place were vampires make slaves and 'pets' out of humans, shifters and the occasional witch.  They're actually pretty damn good at it, so suffice to say that you don't ever want to go there," Nick explained, basically giving him the details he needed without getting into the nastier bits.  "That's their best attempt at organization, and nobody's been both willing and able to strike at them there since it was rebuilt."

There was Mayhem, of course, and most people didn't bother trying to strike there, but the worst you could expect from attacking Mayhem was torture and death.  Midnight wasn't into that, and that was what made people hesitant to hit it.  Of course, if he'd known that Frank was considering a way of hitting a leader and making the rest easier to kill, Nick would have laughed and jumped that idea.  Vampires were far too vengeful and vindictive.  They'd just go after whoever had done it and someone would rise to take the former leader's position.  Life, or whatever it was they had, went on.

Slaves...and pets? What the hell? Just when Frank thought thinks couldn't get any stranger in his world..BAM there it was. Midnight, he'd have to remember that. He would also have to avoid it. Even though Skye had taught him alot about killing vamps, he wasn't in any big hurry to piss off a whole bunch of them that lived in a fortress in the woods. But slaves....that was interesting, he guessed the vampires needed somebody to do all the little petty things that regular people did.

"Huh...thats nice to know. Vampires just seem to get worse and worse the more I learn about them. But what about ya'll, shifters I mean. I know that like..no offense...certain animals hang out in groups and protect each other, do shifters do that? I mean, you're a lion....do you have a pack or whatever? Same with you Skye, aren't hyena's pack animals? I spent some time working in Africa, and got to see both running around out there. They both were usually in groups."

Frank really wondered about the shifters. He didn't really know how they organized themselves. For Frank, everything made more sense if it was organized. Thats why he usually did his work with Private Military Contractors instead of just free lancing, it was always good to have some sort of back up out there.

Skye laughed a little. "I'm the Matriarch of the local hyena pack, actually," she said with that characteristically bright smile. "And Nick is the leader of our local pride. His brother actually seems to have branched off to be in charge of the other felines who aren't plentiful enough in numbers to form a real sort of group, but I have heard the leopards are gathering in numbers, so it's only a matter of time," she trailed off.

"Most of the shapeshifters do orientate themselves as they would in the wild. A lot of the traits carry over, for whatever reason. Wolves can be either loners or pack animals, I've found, though. And birds - Avian shifters take appearance traits. Males will be brightly coloured, while females are dull. I've seen a few exceptions, but not many. It's kind of... neat," she commented with a small shrug.

"I must sound like an encyclopedia," she laughed, nuzzling Nick a little.

Frank digested what he had been told. So Skye was in charge of the hyenas around town, and Nick had a hand (paw?) on the lions. Interesting....Frank always had respect for his superiors...as it was. He looked at Skye and Nick and kinda gave a nod of respect and understanding after she caught him up with what was going on in town.

"So what about the shifters we get hired to off...I mean I have no problem with popping them or vamps or even humans. But do you feel anything towards them or is it just money in your pocket?"

Frank had nor real qualms about doing his job, but then again he was just a plain jane vanilla human, not some supernatural shifter.
