She laughed once more at his description of himself as a demon, though she couldn't see the resemblance at all.  It was true that it should have bothered her nose more because of her sense of smell, but it didn't really bother her.  She liked it.  "I'm one of those weirdos that likes the smell of gasoline and matches, even if I smell them more than humans," she explained, shrugging and fighting the slightest of winces.  Matt was good, but she had some sore muscles.

"Well, unless you think I'm too smelly to share a room with right now, you can go first and I'll make up the couch for you," she offered, not really minding at this point.  She was worried that if she jumped in the shower first thing, she might fall asleep right after, and she actually didn't want to do that.

First of all, it was rude.  Second of all, this was Michael, here, in her apartment.  Falling asleep on him as soon as he left the room seemed wrong.

"No, that's not it, but I'd rather get cleaned up first real quick so you can soak. I can even set a bath for you if you want," he offered. "Don't tell Matthew, but I'm actually on the up and up with creature comforts. He thinks I'm a stuffy old man, and that's fine. He's never seen my own house. I own more aromatherapy candles than God," he confessed with a laugh.

Before Melissa could think he was gay, he continued. "Posey got me into them. I've got such a strong sense of smell I need them, because the pond behind my house is... I think they dump sewage in it. Anyways, she taught me about all those oils and bath salts and, well, she basically, I think, tried to turn me into a girl, but failed. Now I'm just a well educated man. I could definitely make you a nice bath if you want when I'm done," he concluded.

He almost offered to give her a back rub, too, but he figured that might be a little too forward.
From childhood's hour I have not been
As others were---I have not seen
As others saw---I could not bring
My passions from a common spring.
