Erik Lucio

Erik personally thought his job was cooler, but that was because he LIKED the action, the violence, all of it.  He traveled, he fought with things, and life was never dull.  It was the way he liked it all, just without the tiger nastiness.  He could have done without that bit.  That didn't mean he hadn't had more normal plans for life, though.

"You know, my parents wanted me to be a lawyer," he told her, shrugging some.  "They weren't too thrilled when I enlisted, especially since I didn't go officer.  My mom's pretty liberal, and not really into the government.  She thought I was going to go die for a government she didn't like."

He grinned and rolled his eyes, as though he thought that was ridiculous.  He pretty much did, but it was the rest that really amused him.  "She likes the security job she thinks I have now better, believe it or not.  It's still not the big-time lawyer they wanted, but I couldn't really see myself doing that."  It was definitely more dangerous, what he did now.  Hell, he'd been captured on a hunt and held in a hole in the ground until Ken had come to get him.  That wasn't exactly safe.

"Hm, I wonder what they'd say if you told them you met me. Minus the whole, bitchy tiger thing, I mean," she said, mustering a little laugh. At least she felt better. That wasn't easy for Arielle to do, since she'd had a pretty shitty run of luck in her time. She didn't think about it, though; she just sort of went day to day.

She eyed his food when it came back, particularly the fries, and then concentrated on her milkshake, which was almost gone. "So, I guess they don't know about the cat thing, either. Makes sense. I'm sure I'll be leaving this out of my story when I go home for the Fourth of July," she said with a wrinkled nose. Ah, the good old 4 o' J. Her parents always had a huge cookout to  try and outdo the rest of the neighbors. It'd turned into some retardedly large block party that Arielle always came home for.

She'd have to find someone for Tyler, though. Her parents didn't much know about him - actually, nobody knew about him except for her ex-husband. She didn't want to bring him around now. They'd ruin him.
So much for my happy ending
